Tue, May 29, 2007 - 8:54 PMAlready skated the Hillyard Park down in Spokane two weeks ago on my '70s Hobie SkatePark Rider w/ Lazer mids and Sims Pure Juice wheels, Skunk, so I'm ahead of ya there! The kids think I'm so weird showing up with it and wearing all my old Rector pads and a Flyaway helmet because NONE of them are wearing pads and only a few in helmets. They have no idea how bad they can fuck themselves up! I did a few runs on the Sims Pure Juice 30" kicktail w/ Tracker 6tracks and Sims Bowl Rider wheels, too, and then wore out. Geez, I used to skate all day twenty five years ago. What happened?? Funny having a bunch of little skate rats hanging around wanting to see the boards. They were tripping, but I had to prove I could ride first!!
I still need to fix the fins on my 6'4" Becker twinnie and a hole from a rock on the bottom of my 6'10" G&S eggy tri for some waves out on the coast soon. I'll be ready to ride some surf on the Olympic Penn pretty quick. Just hope I catch at least a 3 foot swell (and some lefts being a goofy foot!).
Five more months before it snows, so get some this summer, whatever you're on! -

I hope to one day settle down in an old house next to a mountain and worry about not so much aside from inches of frosty precipitation and/or swollie waves. i'm only 30, but when i grow up i wanna be just like you! roll on brotha -

Thu, May 31, 2007 - 10:28 AMWell thank ya, Skunk, for the compliment. I guess that somewhere along the line my thinking sorta evolved that the short time we are on this planet should be enjoyed. What a novel idea, eh? Still got to pay the bills and such, but dammit why be a drone fitting into someone else's idea of what an "adult" is?
Ever notice that people who use the terms "growing up" and "being responsible" are the ones who don't do anything but work and watch tv, hardly smile or laugh, or have much fun after they start working...for the rest of their lives? What a bummer!
Keep playing, doing the things that bring you joy. And stretch a lot, eat as well as you can afford, and don't let the belly grow over your belt buckle. That'll kick you ass quicker than anything when it comes to getting out there when you're an old guy like me!
