Yahoo!! picked up my whitewater pass (nelson, bc) yesterday! Ready for another big season of steep and deep. Oh yeah!
There's snow on the peaks already, so bring it on- I'm stoked! Well, ok, some nice warm fall weather would be good for a little while and then..... LET IT SNOW!!!!

Mon, October 1, 2007 - 4:57 PMPlanning on heading to Whitewater and Red Mountain this season! Just met another guy, Mikko (sp?), from Nelson in Las Trancas, Chile! But my other Nelson acquaintance heads over to Vancouver Island for the winter. Keep sending snow reports to get me stoked to head over there.

Wed, October 17, 2007 - 11:03 PM49 had a snow cap on it this morning. Could see it from just up the ridge from the house. Yep, it's coming and if we're lucky again this year they'll be open by Nov. 17th again. Or Nov. 10th like the '05/6 season!!!
Boards are waxed, gear is ready. Be burning leg muscles out pretty soon. -

Sun, November 11, 2007 - 9:40 PMCouple new inches at Timberline last night. Pretty windy today and super cloudy but at the top of palmer you peeked out of the clouds and could see the pinnacle of Mt Jefferson, the three sisters, and even Bachelor in the distance. Just a tease of whats to come... -

Thu, November 15, 2007 - 4:54 AMThere is a forecast for 3 - 5 on thursday, and 5 - 9 on friday in northern Vermont (maybe there will be enough to bust out the Fish). It's 40 & raining out now at low elevation, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it has stayed colder up high. Might be a passable early season if the temps stay low. -

Fri, November 16, 2007 - 1:20 AMRaining hard since dark, 38'F. It snowed on top last night and I'm sure 49 is getting hit as it's damn close to slush. Won't be another Nov. 17th or 10th opening but probably by t-day if this keeps up.
Oh boy! I'm ready. Gotta pull the truck under the carport and change over to the winter rims & tires tomorrow. Everything else is waxed, cleaned, and ready. Hope it keeps coming for you, Jai. And everybody else! -

Sat, November 17, 2007 - 3:47 PMA few places opened up this week, but just the usual early season, single-way-down, chocolate chip festivals so the marketing department can claim dibs on being "open". The good news is that up at elevation (which on the east coast means above 2500, lol) we got hit pretty good. 4-6 Thursday and 7-10 friday. Everyone who hikes is out and about. It was still coming down up high today. Things look good for next week when I traditionally open my season with earned turns.

Sun, November 18, 2007 - 1:09 AMNo problem. Will take my digital up when it starts getting fluffy and see if I can get some shots this year and post 'em. Those 10% days that all you can do is float and scream it's so good. I actually had the camera last season in a pocket but to be honest it was so freaking good on those days that I didn't want to stop and I never did shoot any!! The line just kept connecting, ya know? I ride alone most of the time, hell, almost all the time, so they'll probably be scenic deep tracks in trees pictures!
Anyway, glad somebody is getting some turns in. I've got the rock board (a few season old 157 NeverSummer Premier) ready just in case... I keep looking at the snowcaps on the peaks around here and go hmmmmm. Not yet. Need more dumpage. -

Wed, November 21, 2007 - 11:06 PMOh this is bad. Another high pressure sitting off the NW coast, what little coverage disappeared on my hill before the cold air landed (13'F this morning when the dogs went out).
Not good. Time for some serious snow dancing. -

Its been a slow starter and there's still not much up high yet but hopefully we get pounded with a few more big storms soon. Nice to dig out the snow shovel and shovel out the driveway!!! Thu, November 29, 2007 - 2:31 AMBeen snowing all night again tonight, down to the valley floor again like up there in Nelson. My hill is talking about opening up maybe by this weekend if it keeps up. Weather is looking good for the rest of the week at least. Minimum and stay on the groomies but that's okay for the moment!
Switched the truck to winter tires today, clicked it into 4x as it's got inches around the house, and the neighbor brought two of his friends over this evening so I could teach them how to do their edges & hot wax. When people start coming over to use my waxing room, winter is happening!
Hell, maybe I'll be breaking out the monster Arien's snowthrower this weekend to clear a path from the shop to the dirt road. Or maybe not as I might be riding! YA-HOO! -

Sat, December 1, 2007 - 12:44 PMWatching the flakes come down this morning. I'm making a cup of tea and just smiiiiling. Dogs are out rolling and playing snowplow with their noses so they're as happy as I am! This storm is due to put down enough for 49 to open sometime next week I'd imagine as the snow report e-mail a few days ago said one more storm...and we've got a heavy winter storm warning posted for this area! Oh yeah, it's happening.
But I'm still going to break out the old NeverSummer Premier 157 as the early season rock board. Don't want to bust up my Atomic. I'll wait for depth to ride it!
