Day 5 for this 6 year old and she's screaming down the hill doing falling leaf. Even started to point & go and then back on her backside edge this afternoon. She wants off the bunny lift and is ready to try lift #2 (halfway to the top).
Sure is fun teaching the little ones I must admit.

Re: Blue Boarder Babe-let
Tue, January 15, 2008 - 4:53 PMNaw Dexter, she was hamming for the camera and heading straight for me with a grin on her face! She's just starting point & go and back to falling leaf to slow down, but hey she's only had a few days on a board and she's freaking 6 years old fer crimy's sake! I've watched her de-weight automatically to get around people that fall in front of her, too, in fallng leaf stance. I thought for sure she was going to smack into two people last Sunday and she went around them. These little ones learn so fast.
Linking frontside turns next...on a soft day with my wrist braces under her gloves.
Yeah Jarvis, she'll be blazing by the old guy in a few years no doubt. But Mercedes her 6th grade sister that I taught last year can't smoke me yet! We'll see how long it takes the little guy Lee to learn next season. He's four and already throwing fits that he doesn't get to go with his sisters and dad!
Got their mom on a board two weeks ago, too. Had to borrow my spare gear (shell coat, pants, gloves, goggles) and my old NeverSummer 157 but she had a lot of funnnnnnn so she's ready to go back up. I've turned my neighbors into boardheads! My bad!

Re: Blue Boarder Babe-let
Tue, January 15, 2008 - 7:58 PMThat's super sweet!
My kiddo started to ski at 3 (no bunny hill, just up the longest chair we went and snow-plowed down with Mama) and snowboard at 5 (with lessons NOT from Mama), yup, he smoked me after one season. (just like all the other rugrats growing up on the slopes, lol, and I love it too!)
I'll never stop trying to keep up with him, but I might pause at the lodge for a bit of humiliation and a hot cocoa ;)
Yeah for the new gen of boarder kids!
