My hill closes April 6th, big sigh, and I'm going to ride it every day that I can. Stopped after dropping this rock the third time, unclipped and postholed back to to this angle:

Dumping outside right now. Big time. Looks like 6" in the last 6 hours on the deck so it's really going off up top. And I'm so sore from today!
Anybody else getting some? Post a pic!

Tue, April 1, 2008 - 8:44 AMwow you guys are still closing on april 6th? sounds like they now have a reason to stay open.
We've had an amazing season at whiteface. i mean, for the east. we even have more snow than banff! this past weekend was unseasonably cold and powdery and perfect, friday and saturday until sunday brought a softening spring touchup to the slopes.
i've heard talk of whiteface staying fully open through april 17th and then going weekends only. deluxe!
i'm with you Seal, hangin on and refusing to let winter go, to the chagrin of all my spring loving friends...
Golf really does suck, no matter how fun those tiger woods video games are. -

Re: One Week Left and DUMPING
Wed, April 2, 2008 - 9:46 AMYep, it's over in five days. Any hill trying to get the permits from FS to stay open a little longer is hella hard and iffy at best, so most hills on FS land close. And the employees are all heading for summer jobs anyway... Besides, once the valleys start greening the day pass buyers don't come up and nobody makes much off us season pass holders!
Talked to Brundage down in central Idaho (over 400" this season) last week and they're staying open through the first of May for weekends. New CEO and he's interested in seeing if they can extend the season, but Brundage is on private land so they can do that. I'm guessing they'll probably lose money on it.
We got another 6" Monday night which put us over four feet since last Friday (over 310" for the season) but it's looking like this was the last blast of freshies for me. Possible snow due next week and the lifts won't be running so now it's hitching rides with the sledheads to the tops of local peaks like Kalispell with its big open bowl above treeline. Stand at the bottom with your thumb out and a towrope with a 'beaner on it and they love to drag you up fast to give you a thrill! The easy ride to the top may be over but the season ain't dead yet. One hell of a good snowpack up high!
